Social Security in the Red Now, Not 2037
The Social Security Trust Fund reported an August net deficit of $5.865 Billion. This is the largest monthly deficit in nineteen years. Base on recent years data it was not surprising the Fund ran a deficit in August. But the magnitude of the shortfall was a surprise to me. This deficit is now the seventh in the past twelve months. Every other week, I make the trip down from Pennsylvania to Investment U’s headquarters in Baltimore. While I’m in the area, one of my favorite places to enjoy an evening meal is P.F. Chang’s China Bistro (Nasdaq: PFCB) – an outstanding high-end Chinese restaurant.
The only downside is that the wait for a table is typically an hour or more. The reason? The food is excellent, and the service is superb. However, for those of us dining alone, there are plenty of seats at the bar. And these days, there’s also plenty to talk about with your "neighbors."
