The Palm Pre will operate the standard Palm apps that have been in use for years. The Apple store is heavy in low value apps marketed to consumers that bolster their claim to being well supported but doesn't have the strong business application following Palm held for years.

Palm may lack of a competitor to Apples marketing but once the product and catalog of apps achieve a foot hold I would expect Palm to thrive. Apple has enjoyed a strangle hold on ATT but with more viable rivals to the iphone in the handset carriers will begin shifting the customers and erode Apples's position.
