Violent Protest in Russia Over Economy

Mail Online:

Russia was rocked today by some of its strongest protests yet as thousands rallied across the vast country to attack the Kremlin’s response to the global economic crisis.

The marches, complete with Soviet-style red flags and banners, pose a challenge to a government which has faced little threat from the fragmented opposition and politically apathetic population during the boom years fuelled by oil.

Pro-government thugs beat up some of the protesters.

My comment: Coming to a city in the US near you soon? People get pissed after they come out of the beer buzz and realize all their hopes and dreams are crushed. History has shown that they normally want some payback. I suspect quite a few governments will not survive this economic depression. Notice how all the communist party flags got dusted off. A couple of years ago nobody, except a couple of dozen pensioners, even showed up for May Day parades now there are thousands of communist supporters in the street. I told you people want and clamor for radical change when economies decline. Change isn’t always a good thing.
