SubscribeDOW DROPS 500…WHY???
Ok…so the Dow, other indices, and markets around the world collapse (well, not really in percentage terms) but most people want to know why. Investors are worried about global growth and all that jazz, but the truth is that the markets needed a healthy correction.
This past weekend I was in downtown Albany and did not have the time to make a post, although I did have a brief period to check up on the indices and our Jutia picks. What I saw in the charts made me nervous. I remember having a discussion with an advisor who works with Merrill Lynch about the weakening technicals in the overall market, but figured that the drop wouldn’t happen for at least a little longer and that I would be protected by the 5% stop losses placed to reduce my risk. Hopefully you took the same course and protected the positions in your portfolio as well.
Here’s a quick glance at the DOW. Pretty much the same story for other markets as well.
