Jutia’s Great Reads!

I thought I would take some time to post some of my favorite books applicable to the imperial mind and political one crowd.

  • Empire of Debt by Bill Bonner – One of the most insightful literatures that seeks to examine the rise of U.S. economic power and the potential financial crisis ahead.
  • 1776 by David McCullough – A must read for any history fanatic. Just like the title says, this book reveals in great detail the people and events during the American Revolutionary War. The only minor setback is that by the end, you are left with the desire to hear the story of 1777.
  • American Evita by Christopher Andersen – This is the story of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s rise to power. Take a behind the scenes tour of her early years, life with Bill, passion for politics, and what may lay ahead in the final chapters of the Clinton era.
  • The United States of America “Polarization, Fracturing, and Our Future” by Juan Enriquez – This book challenges you to keep an open mind and to follow events that may add or subtract states from our union. Enriquez uses historic references mixed with modern insights and trends that may define the future of the United States.
  • The European Dream by Jeremy Rifkin - Great read for those of you interested in the European experiment for a more peaceful and powerful union. You will experience a perspective of an American who has spent much time in Europe and educates us on the new course Europe is taking and the difficulties that lay ahead. He effectively compares the United States with Europe and brings out the best of both worlds. He reflects on how the American dream is based on individual achievement and an unsustainable thirst for power, while the European Dream seeks a better quality of life through the collective well-being of society.
