Are You Losing Your Freedom?
When I look at life before September 11, 2001, I often think of the nature of life compared to today. You and I lived in a time that did not infringe on our freedoms to a comfortable extent. I often wonder where we would be if we did not advertise the war on terror. This is one of my biggest frustrations because it is when we pay attention to the terrorist groups and declare war on them that drives their purpose.
The very freedoms we supposedly have and rub in the face of extremists are the freedoms the current administration actively works to reduce behind our back. The more control over the people the better, right!? How would you feel if you were called un-American because you did not agree with the wire tappings? It just seems as if these issues are steadily chipping away at the pillars our founding fathers tried to establish. Â
Today, the United States government was handed yet another reason to limit our freedom. With the terror plot foiled in London at the Heathrow Airport, our wonderful Department of Homeland Security now says that there will be no more drinks and liquids on the plane. Is there not a way to scan items for explosive substance? What worries me is the police state attitude our government has been allowed to develop. Maybe the elections will bring some fresh blood into congress, but is it too late? Have the institutions of power taken a stranglehold of our nation?
