2006 Midterm Elections
Many people including myself are wondering whether this small wave of national disappointment will spill over into the local elections throughout each state. The Democrats will need to translate national Republican failure into a local issue.
With the recent defeat of Joe Lieberman (D) in his party’s primary for United States Senate, liberal voters are looking for someone who will fight for the issues that will separate their ideas and beliefs from that of the Republican party. In other words, Democrats need to get comfortable in their own skin. This is a difficult position to be in because Americans in general want national unity and a willingness of elected leaders from both parties to work with each other in solving issues.
Democrats will need to find a universal message in their diverse minority status if they are to succeed in the coming election.
