Why Do the Dems Struggle Nationally?
Many people wonder why it is that Democrats consistently fail to win national elections. I think that is the perception that we are a party of doves who care for each other and the environment around us. We promote freedom and do not argue that our opinions should be emulated on to others. It is because of this stance that many independents lean towards the hawkish right in order to ensure that the nation remains aggressive with the states we have tried to control around the world. Most Americans would probably agree that it is our destiny and right to enforce order around the world in order to satisfy our own desires and demands.
It is the local and state government where one is likely to see democratic success. Again, I believe this is due to the fact that Democrats work for the common man and strive to improve our situation at home. Now anyone can say that Democrats use special interest money like the Republicans, or that a Republican candidate can do just as good of a job if elected. I could not agree with you more. There are certainly instances where I would promote a candidate who is capable and willing to improve the lives of as many people as possible. Of course the background of such candidate should be that of a results oriented, sustainable, and ethical person. We as voters are called to focus on the the candiddate’s past performance, ideas, and issues as opposed to our often misguided perceptions and spin that each party uses to degrade the opposing candidate.
Maybe Democrats will be more successful in the short term if they choose a southerner with appeal and long term when global order is in more balance and capital markets pressure unstable regimes into participating in the peace.
