The President Next Door

When are we going to elect a president who can think, instead of faith his or her way out of the issues? We need to elect someone who will represent us in not only in a professional, but intelligent manner. I do not understand those who say they voted for a candidate because they could picture them as a friend or someone to have drinks with at the bar. Sure Bill Clinton made poor “personal” decisions, but those were decisions that affect his life, not that of the country. His economic and peace efforts were second to none.

Furthermore, I hope that in the next election we can begin to vote on the real issues at hand. I am talking about decisions that effect the everyday lives of Americans such as healthcare, education, budget, etc. What benefit do we see from the Iraq war? I do know that we can not afford the billions we are pouring into our nation building conquest.

Close your eyes and imagine that you are someone from another country and you are invaded by another country whose people believe their culture is superior to yours, whose values are not your values, who do not truly understand the culture of your people. Wouldn’t you be extremely upset and resistant, even if your ruling government was somewhat oppressive. Why would you be more inclined to chose one oppressor over another. The point I am trying to make is that it is about time we focus on our own domestic situation and improving the democratic society and freedoms we have. We are foolishly wasting precious resources in a war on terror we can not win, but can only hope to reduce. People will cause political change when they are ready and see purpose in doing so.
