It is my belief that the United States should seek pro-environment opportunities now and well into the future. There are many benefits of promoting and implementing a healthy mix of environmental public and professional policy. This does not mean that corporations are limited in their profit potential if legislation requires them to become more environmentally friendly. It is often the case that environmentally conscious firms see financial advantages in their decision making. For example, firms can pay less money on electric costs and extend the life of lighting my using eco-friendly light bulbs. In addition to this, solar energy is becoming more and more affordable. Any residential or commercial setup can greatly reduce their fixed energy costs by investing in such technology to get off the grid. Solar energy can be used to provide heat for our water and homes. This source of energy can power our electronic devices as well. Plug-in hybrids will aid in drastically reducing gasoline consumption and painful prices at the pump. I believe most Americans would agree that weaning off our dependence on foreign oil is of the utmost importance. This is a win-win scenario because our economy can halt exportation of American dollars, reduce spending in protecting oil interests in the Middle East, become more self sufficient, and economically sustainable.
