Welcome to Political One! My political interests began in college (upstate New York) when I started to become more aware of my opinions and beliefs. Around this time I began to notice the bias on the television news channels and in the newspapers. My parents swore no allegiance to any particular party as I found out after graduation and my friends were a mixture of Democrats and Republicans. We never really discussed politics because they seemed more interested in sports, partying, grades, and other various activities at school.
In early 2004, I did not know which party I belonged to so I used the internet and set out to discover just what exactly I stood for. I went to many websites, one listing the issues and what position each party generally took, and others where I had to answer many questions and state how strongly I felt about certain political statements and issues. Each time I discovered that I was in fact a Democrat, but somewhere in the middle between a centrist and a liberal.
